1958 — Decree of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR No. 201 dated 11.04.58 «Organization of the Institute of Geology in the Komi Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR» was issued, in which the Geological Museum was allocated as a separate item.
1961 — under the leadership of the director of the Institute of Geology of the Komi branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the first stone storage facility is organized.
May 21, 1968 — Resolution of the Bureau of the Department of Earth Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences No. 9 «Establishing a geological museum in the Institute of Geology of the Komi Academy of Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1968» was published.
December 16, 1969 — Researcher D. M. Tomova, the first curator of the museum's funds, was hired.
December 25, 1969 — Order to create Museum Commission chaired by M. V. Fishman.
December 8, 1972 — Order defining the requirements and procedure for the delivery of collections to the museum.
1974 — the first exhibition «Mineral resources of the north-east of the European part of the USSR» was made for the 250th anniversary of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
May 21, 1978 — the first exposition of the museum was opened.
1980 — the first museum catalog of D. M. Tomova «Catalog of monographic paleontological collections of the museum of the Institute of Geology of the Komi branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences» was published.
1982 — A. I. Chumakova was appointed Curator of museum funds.
December 1987 — the director of the institute N. P. Yushkin approved the thematic-exposition plan proposed by M. V. Fishman for the second stationary exposition of the museum.
1986—1990 — opening of the museum exposition in the new building of the Institute of Geology.
1988—1991 — published brochures-guides to the halls of the museum (author M. V. Fishman).
September 28, 1994 — the museum was separated from the laboratory of lithology and geochemistry of sedimentary formations into an independent structural unit of the institute as a research laboratory.
1994 — the head of the museum was appointed Cand. Sci. A. A. Belyaev
1997 — Catalog of monographic collections was published by S. I. Ploskova, A. I. Chumakova, containing information about 424 collections.
1997 — junior researcher L. R. Zhdanova was appointed Curator of museum funds.
April 19, 2000 — «Samotsvety» hall was opened.
2004 — S. I. Ploskova was appointed Head of the Geological Museum
2007 — The Noah's Ark Hall was opened.
2010 — the Memorial Office of Professor A. A. Chernov was opened.
2011 — Cand. Sci. A. A. Ievlev was appointed Head of the Geological Museum.
2014 — «Funds of the A. A. Chernov Geological Museum» monograph by L. R. Zhdanova, I. S. Astakhova, A. A. Ievlev was published with a description of 591 collections.
2014 — Cand. Sci. I. S. Astakhova was appointed Head of the Geological Museum.
2016 — the Science and Technology exhibition was opened.
May 22, 2018 — opening of the Paleontology hall.
THE HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM IN FACES
Chernov Aleksander Aleksandrovich (1877—1963)
Head of the laboratory, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Komi ASSR and the RSFSR, Hero of Socialist Labor. Under the leadership of A. A. Chernov, the Department of Geology (now the Institute of Geology) was organized as part of the Komi base of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He laid the idea of creating a geological museum of the Komi region.
Fishman Mark Veniaminovich (1919—2003)
Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Komi ASSR and RSFSR, Director of the Institute of Geology from 1961 to 1985, one of the founders of the museum. V. Fishman actively participated in the management of museum activities. He put forward the idea of a regional orientation in the acquisition of funds and expositions of the museum.
Yushkin Nikolay Pavlovich (1936—2012)
Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor, Academician, Honored Scientist of the Komi ASSR and the RSFSR, Director of the Institute of Geology from 1985 to 2008, one of the founders of the museum. For many years he actively participated in the creation of the museum, the formation of expositions, the development of a system of accounting for museum funds.
Belyaev Alexander Anatolyevich (1951—2004)
Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Head of the Geological Museum from 1994 to 2004.
A. Belyaev carried out research work on the automation of museum materials. He compiled a thematic and exposition plan for the exhibition hall «Development of Life on Earth».
Ploskova Svetlana Igorevna (1971—2011)
Junior Researcher, Head of the Geological Museum from 2004 to 2011.
S. Ploskova participated in cataloging of the museum monographic and working collections. She created new museum exhibitions. She was engaged in archival research on the history of mining in the Komi Territory. He is the creator of the photo archive. Developed an excursion program for younger students.
Ievlev Aleksey Anatolyevich (1960—2014)
Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Head of the Geological Museum from 2011 to 2014.
A. A. Ievlev carried out research work on the history of mining in the Komi Territory. He was involved in formation of the scientific and archival fund. He actively participated in excursion activities.
Tomova Dina Mikhaylovna (1926—2006)
Junior researcher, custodian of funds (1969—1982).
She was engaged in the creation and systematization of scientific collections. She participated in the creation of the first museum exposition and temporary exhibitions, conducted excursions around the museum.
Chumakova Aleksandra Ivanovna (born 1937)
Junior researcher, custodian of funds (1982—1997).
She systematized museum collections and formed new exhibits.
