From teaching experience. VIII. Grid ornaments Yu. L. Voytekhovsky
DOI: 10.19110/geov.2021.7.2
After 7 symmetry groups of borders, 17 symmetry groups of grid ornaments are the next step on the way to 230 space symmetry groups in the university course of crystallography. A simple derivation of grid ornaments is proposed, combining the search for 10 flat clusters and their translations in 5 parallelogram grids. Analysis of grid ornaments in the urban landscape (artistic mosaics, wall claddings, floorings, etc.) draws students to the actual problem of the prevalence of 230 space symmetry groups in minerals.
Keywords: grid ornament, cluster, parallelogram grid, symmetry group.

Paleozoic fossil plants of the of the north-east of the European part of Russia in the collections of the A. A. Chernov Geological museum L. R. Zhdanova
DOI: 10.19110/geov.2021.7.3
The article is devoted to the history of the study of fossil algae and plants in the Paleozoic sedimentary deposits developed in the north-east of the European part of Russia. The main locations of the fossilized flora in this area are indicated. The history of the study shows that the remains of ancient plants and algae have been studied unevenly, which is due to the nature of the distribution of the remains and their preservation, as well as the lack of specialists. The generalization of the available information made it possible to present a collection of fossil algae and plant remains of the Paleozoic in the A. A. Chernov Geological Museum, which are of scientific and educational interest.
Keywords: fossil algae, collections of plant remains, Paleozoic, north-east of the European part of Russia, A. A. Chernov Geological Museum.

V. A. Dedeev and his role in the development of the resource baseof the oil and gas industry of the Timan-Pechora province (in connection with the 90th anniversary) N. N. Timonina, T. V. Maydl, A. B. Khabarov
DOI: 10.19110/geov.2021.7.4
The article analyzed organizational and scientific activities of the first head of the Department of Geology of Fuels of the Institute of Geology of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences V. A. Dedeev, a well-known scientist in geotectonics and geology of mineral resources. He greatly contributed to the study of the formation conditions and distribution of oil and gas fields, solved problems of their geological, economic and forecasting assessment. His important practical result was the analysis of potential energy resources of the European North of Russia and the north of the Urals and their effective development.
We showed V. A. Dedeev’s role in the postgraduate education of young scientists working on studying and expanding the resource base of the oil and gas industry of the Komi Republic and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The article summarized V. A. Dedeev’s published and collection materials in various areas.
Keywords: geotectonic, platform cover structures, sedimentary basin, reserves and resources, hydrocarbons, oil and gas complex.
